Pangs called the bordy hit completely wrong. It was a clean hit, here is the image

Arms down, feet on the ice, shatty had the puck.

Hitches words after the game however were very troubling ( can be found here http://milehighsports.com...in-4-0-loss-to-avalanche/ )
as were Backes actions.

It is troubling that Hitch sent Backes after an 18 year old kid. That was a disgusting command.

As a hockey fan, not necessarily of either team. I thought the hit was extremely borderline but I would fall on the it was a good hit side. As far as Backes jumping the "18 year old kid", if you are on the ice you are free game. Understand this, hockey is a man's game. If you want to play it at the highest level, you have to expect to be treated the same as anyone else (unless you have a 87 on your pens jersey). Backes felt as the leader of his team he needed to retaliate for the hit. I'm sorry but Roy saying "he could hit Talbot" was idiotic. Like it or not, hockey is still a game of "messages" in one way or another. Today, the Avs sent the message "not only can we play with you, we can beat you". Backes message was simply "here we are". Would make for a great playoff matchup.

Idk if you were watching NHLN tonight, but don cherry had a segment about that and said that there should be a level of restrain for going after kids like that. After all, Mac didn't do anything.

That was a textbook hit to the T. The only thing bad about it was that Bodry is 6'6 225 and shatty is 5'11 205.

The only thing that was rough about it was the injury and the injury occurred because shatty hit himself in the face with his stick.

As far as the Backes thing, there was no need for that at all. He always tries to pick on the smaller players but will never fight someone his own size.

Yeah, Shatty should have known better than to try to hit Bordeleau in the shoulder with his face. Damn stick got in the way.

Watch it again, dolt. Bordeleau does leave his feet and launches at Shatty. Picking a frame from the video after the guy has already landed on Shatty's head and landed back on his feet proves nothing other than you are an idiot apologist. Should have been 5 and he got 0. Story of the game.

Thats hockey, checks happen doesnt make it dirty. Also "leaving your feet" only applies when a player leaves their feet before the collision, not well after Panger and his partner called the situation way wrong. The frame shows that he didnt leave his feet as it is well into the collision and it makes it more clear but if you want I can grab the video as well, with more unbiased commentary, although it takes until the end to see the hit.

He got 0 because it was a clean check but if you think you know the rulebook well enough to ref then you should call Bettman and see if they are hiring.

I'm unbiased to either team, and the hit wasn't that bad; borderline at most. However, directly from the rulebook:

Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head
48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an
opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and
such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was
avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall
be considered:
(i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the
opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor
timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the
body upward or outward.

Bordeleau is much bigger; things happen. But he did propel himself upward during the hit; after the initial contact. Do I think anything should come of this hit? No. But I'm not Brendan Shanahan.

lol @ Kelly and Panger on the Blues broadcast. I'm not sure which was more amusing... their shock when the Holden goal stood or their disgust with Borderleau. Regardless, they were in full-homer mode.

The Amerks, with new faces and reinforcements in their lineup, have now won three straight games and have flexed the collective muscles top re-enter the playoff race.

Is that like a muffin top?

Appreciate the Amerk's highlights. Considering the borderline players on the Sabres, that team is of most interest now.

Don Cherry, like me, is allowed to have an opinion. What do you want to do? Put a red jersey on 18 and 19 year olds so that they can't be touched. Backes is a douche but its not like he punched him in the back of the head , knocked him to the ground, and kept whaling on him. If it was so bad, where was the Avs retaliation?

Retaliation was made after the game by Patrick Roy. The incident was pretty severe too, he knocked him down and kept hitting him for ~10 seconds. I know there isn't a rule against hitting teenagers, but there is a code of respect for young stars.

You guys should draft Bennett then . From what I have read that is a good description of him.

This

It may have been that they got seatbelted or whatever.
And his intention May have been to pummel him.

But regardless, the description wasn't apt
